Alice Menette Truss Walker grew up in Lincoln, Alabama. When she was a young
girl, she would write down things that came to her mind. As far back as junior
high school, she kept little books of short stories and poetry she'd written.
She had hopes and dreams that one day her stories and poetry would be viewed by
the world.
